A legacy of continued growth

Tracing our trajectory from 1913 to a regional financial leader, explore how our brands transitioned, modernized, and consolidated into an integrated and competitive ecosystem.

1913
Our founding
Banco Atlántida is born in La Ceiba

Our inception in La Ceiba laid the ground rules for modern commercial banking in the region. Carrying that century-old foundation inspires our continuous strategic evolution.

1997
Diversification and growth
Expanding the financial footprint

In our first major evolution beyond traditional banking, Grupo Financiero Atlántida launched Leasing Atlántida (1978), Seguros Atlántida (1985), and AFP Atlántida (1998)—establishing the leading pension fund manager in Honduras and reinforcing our governance.

2010
Leadership
Direction of Grupo Financiero Atlántida

In 2010, I assumed the leadership of Banco Atlántida. This milestone initiated a new management era driven by a definitive objective: to professionalize operations, propel the brand toward new horizons, and accelerate the institution's digital transformation.

2013
Centennial regional growth
Scalling across Central America

Marking our 100-year milestone in 2013, Banco Atlántida paired digital transformation with regional expansion. Through the acquisition of AFP Confía (2015) and entering the banking markets of El Salvador (2017) and Nicaragua (2019), we built a truly unified regional platform.

22–24
intercontinental expansion
From Latin America to Europe

In 2022, Grupo Sur Atlántida was established to consolidate operations in Ecuador and Peru. This growth momentum continued in 2024 with the acquisition of Banco D-Miro in Ecuador and, through IBEROATLÁNTIDA, securing regulatory authorization to acquire a 45% stake in EBN Capital in Spain—marking our strategic entry into the European market.

Today
Present

Today, I serve as President of an integrated enterprise spanning eight countries and key growth sectors—including banking, insurance, and infrastructure. Guided by a century of stewardship, we ensure our global footprint operates under total regulatory compliance and world-class audit standards.
